The organizations

Sea Shepherd, founded in 1977, is an international non-profit organisation for the protection of marine wildlife. Our mission is to end the destruction of habitats and the slaughter of animals in the world’s oceans in order to sustainably protect and preserve ecosystems and species of ecosystems and species. Sea Shepherd uses innovative tactics to investigate, document and, if necessary, take action against illegal activities on the high seas. By protecting biodiversity in the oceans, Sea Shepherd is working to ensure the survival of our vulnerable marine ecosystem for future generations.

The Oceanic Preservation Society, founded in 2005 by photographer and laughing enthusiast Louie Psihoyos, was responsible for creating the award-winning 2009 documentary “The Cove”, which opened people’s eyes to the horrors of the annual Taiji dolphin hunt. Other OPS initiatives include “Undersea Majesty”, a stunning series of photographs in Raja Ampat, Indonesia, a collection of children’s marine art, and an online campaign inviting members of the public to promise that they will never go to dolphin shows.
